Everything I do for fun these days has a strong element of Work in it at the moment. With derby comes meetings, spreadsheets, order tracking, money handling. I don't begrudge it, because without people doing this there is no league, but sometimes it's can be a bit of a grind.
When I'm not doing derby or working at my real-life actual job, I review. Not just hotpants either, but actual things people go and see. I blog for The Edge, and get to go to the occasional show and write about it. With the NZ Comedy Festival and Auckland Writers and Readers Festival on just now, the occasional show has become five in a week. I love it, and it's great way of getting my blatherings out to new people (take that, unsuspecting public!), but watching the show becomes, well, work. As does the need to race home and get it all down on my faithful little notebook before I forget it all.
Tonight I'm going to the AWRF opener with the Auckland Philharmonic, which is a 10pm finish. Tomorrow there's a crapload of meetings on at school, which finishes after six, then training. So right now, I'm not at the gym. I'm having some downtime. And blogging about it.
Yeah, I'm not very good at nothing, am I?
