Initial review: ProTech Dent mouthguards

Just a quickie as I only just got this today and won't play in it until, er, TOMORROW, (apparently there's a game on) but I thought I'd show you how impressive these mouthguards are, by means of a quick photo comparison, and some video of talking and (honestly) drinking.

First up, comfort and fit. The first set is the Pro-Tech....

So, as you can see, it's very visible in the mouth when you open your gob to show the refs you're not about to get done for an illegal procedure, but in terms of profile and dead-on, it's almost invisible.

Now for the mouthguard I've been using since July....

Yeah, not...not so good.

Everybody's raved about how you can talk and drinking these bad boys, but is it true? Well, in a DDYG first, I present to you....video!

So, talking. Here's me talking in the Pro-Tech...

...and in my old, bog-standard mouthguard.

So anyway, talking. who would ever want to talk on the track when you can DRINK?

I was amazed at how easy this was. I'd never actually attempted to drink in my old mouthguard, so this next video was an experiment and will probably played at my blooper-reel of a eulogy...

So yeah, there you have it. I'm amazed at how comfortable it feels and how covered my teeth feel. Will report back on how they are to play in after tomorrow. I'll leave with a final shot of how both mouthguards look when not in my trap...

I never, ever have to put this in my mouth again.
Nice case for it, aye!

And finally, I've been dicking about with blogger trying to make this format in a way that looks not-crap, but failed. You can't expect looks, wit, hot-off-the-press reviews and the blog to look pretty, right? Right? Ingrates.

Disclaimer: I paid for these out of my own pocket and because, well, you've seen my other mouthguard, do I need more explanation? Purchased from One Woman 8 Wheels.

Good luck for tonight, or whatever derby for break a leg is, smash yer spleen?

  2. Impact test results after tonight's shenanigans, where I shall endeavour not to break anything that doesn't belong to an opponent. Cheers!
