Having said all that....

Endurance training tonight, to star with we had four sets of four minute sprints with a minute rest in between, alternating between clockwise and widdershins. I used this an opportunity to see how many laps I could do in the time (because numbers are cool, yo). Didn't count the first clockwise one, but the first widdershins (love that word!) round I managed 23 laps in four minutes, the second clockwise 21 laps. I'm really pleased with that clockwise result, the wheel setup I have is great for the normal direction of play but going the other way is a pain in the arse and I have difficulty doing smooth crossovers. However, on the final round I went all-out and managed a MIGHTY 24 and a half laps in four minutes (and I was counting VERY closely). That's a whisker off joining the fabled Under-4 club! I set myself the goal of managing 25 laps in four minutes at the very start of this year, and did wonder how I'd go given that I've not really done any straight endurance skating for a while (all that derby stuff getting in the way, tsk!). I was a bit disappointed not to make the full 25, but I imagine that with fewer skaters on the track and without having done fifteen minutes of skating before then I can make it. Exciting stuff!

Aside from that, endurance training was really good tonight. It was a small group, but very good-natured and I think we all pushed each other and ourselves really hard. We worked well in pack drills, and it was nice to finish the training feeling pretty tired but good for it!

League meeting tomorrow night, then scrimmage and travel team training Wednesday. I've also got to fit in marking 32 exam papers this week too somehow...
